The Chicago Bears' impressive defense will try to slow down CJ Stroud and the Houston Texas on Sunday Night football. The Texans currently sit eighth in the Super Bowl odds.

When looking at the Bears vs. Texans early leans and odds, what to bet and where the line will move comes down to one thing: Will Caleb Williams improve?

He was horrible in his first NFL regular-season start, completing 48.3% of his pass attempts for 93 yards. His team earned the win, but the Texans aren’t the Tennessee Titans, and Stroud isn’t Will Levis. Nonetheless, Williams is still the favorite in the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds.

If the Bears’ offense fails to net 150 total yards again, their defense won’t be able to save the team. But can Chicago keep this Sunday Night Football clash within a touchdown?

Moneyline

If you’re looking to build a parlay based on favorites this weekend, take the Texans at FanDuel. The price is -270 in the Sunday Night Football odds, while the odds at three of our other best sportsbooks are over -300.

We expect the number at FanDuel to increase before kickoff, so get in as soon as possible.

Wait to bet if you think the Bears can pull off this upset, as this number will keep moving in favor of the Texans.

Spread

The spread opened with the Texans as the five-point favorites. Since then, the gap has widened to 6.5 and is in danger of hitting the key number of seven. Currently, 68% of bettors are backing the Texans to cover.

All of our best sports betting sites are offering the same spread for around the identical price. So if you’re looking to back the Texans, do it now before this number hits seven. But wait if you like the Bears.

Over/Under

If you believe the Bears’ offense will score enough for the Over to hit, then FanDuel is offering phenomenal value on over 45.5. Not only is 45.5 the lowest total available at our best live betting sites, but the -104 price is the best out there for any Over wager.

The Bears scored 24 points in Week 1 and Stroud is a very public quarterback. But this number is going to drop before kickoff.

My early Bears vs. Texans lean: Texans -6.5

After seeing the performances in Week 1, I thought this line would have been 8.5 or more. With the spread sitting at 6.5 and the game being played in prime time, I’m a little concerned that oddsmakers know something we don’t.

There's no reason to believe in Williams this week. He’s not a good professional quarterback until the signal-caller proves it on the field. The Bears’ defense was incredible against the Titans, but can it really slow down Stroud if the unit is on the field the entire game?

The spread will move to seven by mid-week, so pounce right away as part of your NFL Week 2 predictions. But I’m also going to do a little more studying for this game because this spread really makes no sense.

This Bears team may end up being like last year’s New York Jets. It could boast a great defense that looks terrible because the offense keeps the group on the field all game. And we all saw how that worked out for the Jets last season, and on Monday night.
