C.J. Stroud SNF Player Prop Bets: Sunday Night Football

C.J. Stroud will look to put together another solid performance when his Houston Texans take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football in Week 2.
The Bears’ defense looked great in Week 1, holding the Tennessee Titans to 244 yards while scoring two touchdowns. How will that performance affect this week’s C.J. Stroud SNF player prop bets and the Sunday Night Football odds?
Stroud’s totals haven’t lowered much after the Bears’ performance. Instead, our best sports betting sites may overvalue the young quarterback this week. Is taking Stroud’s Unders on Sunday night the right move?
In conjunction with our Bears vs. Texans prediction, we break that down and more as we continue our Week 2 NFL predictions.

C.J. Stroud Over 1.5 passing touchdowns (-138) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This prop is expensive, and FanDuel is the only sportsbook asking less than -140. Two of our best sportsbooks have the Over set at -155.
Considering Stroud’s history, the prices make sense. Dating back to last season, Stroud has thrown multiple touchdowns in three of his last four games. During his rookie campaign, he threw multiple touchdowns in nine games, including his postseason win over the Cleveland Browns.
The Bears’ defense looked excellent in Week 1, but Stroud is not Will Levis. And if the Bears’ offense can’t sustain drives better than in their opener, the defense will be exhausted.
That is not a recipe for success against this offense. Mixon could steal a touchdown in this game, but Stroud will perform as he usually does against what I believe to be an overrated defense after Week 1.
Best odds: -138 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 57.98%
C.J. Stroud Under 266.5 passing yards (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
While Mixon may take away a touchdown from Stroud, he'll take away some yards. Last week, the Bears’ defense allowed Tony Pollard to average 5.3 yards per carry, as he finished the game with 82 yards.
The Texans should be able to get out to an early lead in this game, which will reduce Stroud’s attempts. And if this is a defensive struggle, then that means Stroud won’t light up the box score, either.
He’s had some massive performances in his career, but he has thrown for more than 266 yards in just one of his last six games. The Bears’ pass defense will make it one of his last seven. Rodrigo Villagomez gets into this during his Bears vs. Texans prop bets.
The under is favored at every sportsbook except for bet365. Caesars is asking -123 for under 266.5. FanDuel has the total at 263.5, but they’re asking a worse price for the under than bet365 is.
Best odds: -110 via bet365 | Implied probability: 52.38%
C.J. Stroud Under 34.5 pass attempts (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Oddsmakers must be expecting a massive bounce-back game from the Bears’ offense, otherwise, this total makes absolutely no sense. Stroud hasn’t attempted more than 34 passes in a game since November 26. During his excellent rookie campaign, he only attempted 35 or more passes seven times.
The Bears’ weakness is their run defense, and the Texans should be leading for most of this game. So why would Stroud go over this number when Mixon is the advantage? If this were going to be a shootout, then maybe I’d take the over, but nothing about Caleb Williams’ performance last week suggests he can keep this game close. Stroud may not even throw the ball 30 times. Mike Spector thinks Williams may not be slinging it too much, as he discusses in his Caleb Williams player props.
bet365 is again offering the best price. Our other best sports betting apps are asking at least -120 for the under, while some are asking as much as -130.
Best odds: -115 via bet365 | Implied probability: 53.49%
