Metcalf's situation is an interesting one. He instantly becomes one of the top wide receivers available after Seattle permitted him to seek a trade earlier in the week. However, any trade for the veteran would include a new contract, or else he'd be an expensive one-year rental.

The usual suspects - in this case, receiver-needy teams - are in the mix, according to our best sports betting sites. These teams must have plenty of excess cap space to be able to extend Metcalf and enough trade capital to appease Seattle.

Suffice it to say these requirements make this a difficult situation. The receiver's wishes, including a desire to play for a Super Bowl odds contender, must also be taken into account.

Similar to the Davante Adams next team odds market, while all 32 NFL teams are listed on the board, a handful stick out as unlikely destinations. However, our best sports betting apps are careful not to leave any stone unturned with a premier receiver being made widely available.

The likeliest destination for Metcalf remains Seattle due to the many moving parts involved with any trade. Lockett's release also gives the Seahawks financial flexibility. Seattle has over $32 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap, to potentially pay the six-year veteran.

🔮 Where will DK Metcalf play next season?

It's difficult to imagine the Seahawks (+270) shaking up their wide receiver room this much in one offseason. The team will be eager to give new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as many weapons as possible, so extending Metcalf seems the simplest route to take.

Although, as we alluded to earlier, plenty of teams are in the hunt for a premier wide receiver this offseason.

One of those teams is the New England Patriots (+450). Despite new frontman Mike Vrabel expressing his desire to focus on strengthening the trenches this offseason, New England cannot ignore its glaring need for help out wide, especially with a second-year quarterback.

Trading for Metcalf would give Drake Maye a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver, while also allowing the Patriots to structure an extension in a team-friendly way. New England has the most available cap money in the NFL at just over $127 million this offseason.

Perhaps the most important thing that the Patriots have, though, is draft capital. New England has two third-round selections from the Matthew Judon trade last year, so this could be a jumping-off point in trade negotiations with the Seahawks.

Many expect the Las Vegas Raiders (+550) to also be in the mix due to the Pete Carroll connection. But I believe the discussions stop and end with the Patriots, as Metcalf fits the mold for the new era in New England.

Prediction: Patriots (+450)
