This week's Sunday Night Football matchup could have a major impact on the NFC playoff picture as the Los Angeles Rams (5-5) host the road favorite Philadelphia Eagles (8-2) tonight at 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC) from SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

  • The Eagles are favored by 2.5 points by the latest Sunday Night Football odds to extend a six-game winning streak
  • Los Angeles has rallied from a 1-4 start to win four of its last five games
  • The road team is 5-1 ATS in the Rams’ last six games

After making our Eagles vs. Rams early picks earlier in the week, here is our Eagles vs. Rams prediction tonight for Sunday Night Football as part of our NFL Week 12 predictions.

Eagles vs. Rams betting splits: Sunday Night Football

The Eagles opened as 2.5-point favorites across most of our best sportsbooks, and we've seen the line inch closer to the road favorites ahead of kickoff tonight.

Philadelphia is now dealing as a near-consensus favorite of -3, though you can still grab -2.5 at FanDuel with -120 odds on the visitors. That comes with more than 60% of point spread bets coming on the NFC East leaders.

The total has also crept as high as 49 after opening at 47.5 earlier in the week.

Eagles vs. Rams against the spread prediction: Sunday Night Football

Eagles to cover the spread: -2.5 (-120) ⭐⭐⭐

Eagles pass defense is game-changer

Philadelphia’s pass defense is a big reason it has won six straight and is 8-2 through 10 games.

At this point in the season last year, the Eagles' defense had allowed a 21-5 TD-INT ratio, 248.1 passing yards per game, and 6.6 yards per attempt.

Through the first 10 games this season, they have allowed a 9-7 TD-INT ratio, 173.2 passing yards per game, and 6.1 yards per attempt. Philadelphia ranks in the top 10 in the NFL in all of those categories.

Matthew Stafford is coming off his first game with four touchdown passes and zero interceptions since 2021. But the Eagles are built to negate that strength, ranking second in the league with a 50 Total QBR allowed.

Multiple ways to slow down the Rams’ receivers

Philadelphia’s improved pass defense started with an outstanding draft, and it has multiple versatile bodies to use against L.A.’s elite wide receiver group.

Per NFL Next Gen Stats, rookie Cooper DeJean’s 3.9 yards per allowed as the nearest defender lead the league, while fellow rookie Quinyon Mitchell’s 6.1 yards allowed in that split ranks 33rd. Along with Darius Slay, the Eagles are one of two teams in the league with three players ranked in the top 35 in that metric (min. 25 targets).

Mitchell has allowed a 51% completion percentage as the nearest defender as a rookie. To put that in perspective, 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner allowed a 48% completion percentage that season, while Denver’s Pat Surtain II allowed a similar 51% completion percentage in 2021.

A.J. Brown is a difference maker

The Eagles are 7-0 SU when Brown is active this year, averaging 30 points in those games. In the three games Brown missed, Philadelphia went 1-2 and saw its points per game average drop to 17.3.

Per Evan Abrams, Sean McVay and Stafford together are 27-9 SU as favorites, but have won just six of 20 games outright as underdogs.

I am fine with paying up in price to back the Eagles under a field goal, and FanDuel’s -120 odds for a spread of -2.5 are slightly better than DraftKings’ -122 price.

A $10 winning wager would pay out $18.33. We cover three other headline acts in our Eagles vs. Rams SNF prop bets.

Dallas Goedert anytime touchdown scorer (+320) ⭐⭐⭐

The Rams have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers over the last four weeks, which suggests Brown could be in for a big game.

However, Los Angeles has also allowed the seventh-most fantasy points per game to tight ends over the larger sample size of the whole season, making Goedert’s anytime touchdown odds a great value. Additionally, he could receive more targets with DeVonta Smith out.

Goedert has either topped 60 receiving yards or scored a touchdown in four of the last five games.

This is a three-star play, as the Rams pressure opposing quarterbacks on 41.7% of dropbacks (highest in the league), which should have Hurts getting the ball out quicker on shorter routes.

The +320 odds at Caesars are nearly double the +180 anytime touchdown odds at DraftKings, and would net a $32 profit on a winning $10 wager.
