Injuries and COVID-19 protocols are causing significant shifts in the updated Week 15 NFL odds and lines.

COVID-19 is wreaking havoc with society in general, but the sports world is really feeling it this week as the number of positive cases has spiked and it has shaken up some of the NFL rosters.

The most notable change in terms of point spreads is that the Las Vegas Raiders have gone from 5.5-point underdogs to 1.5-point favorites at the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. Browns QB Baker Mayfield is among the many Browns added to the CODVID-19 injured list.

Other games with significant line shifts include the Philadelphia Eagles moving from 4 to 7-point favorites against the Washington Football. The Jacksonville Jaguars are bigger favorites now that head coach Urban Meyer is gone, and the Los Angeles Rams’ COVID-19 outbreak has dropped them from 6.5-point to 4-point favorites.

Here’s a look at the updated NFL odds for Week 15, along with my picks based on the updated lines (odds via FanDuel Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale):

NFL Odds, Lines and Picks for Week 15: Thursday Night Football

Chiefs (9-4 SU, 6-7 ATS, 6-7 O/U) vs. Chargers (8-5 SU, 7-6 ATS, 6-7 O/U)

Opening line: Chiefs -3.5Current line: -3

Opening total: 50.5Current total: 52.5

The Chiefs’ defense has been impressive while allowing 65 points during a six-game winning streak but they will be without tackle Chris Jones due to COVID-19. That leaves a hole on the defensive line. As for the Chargers, safety Derwin James remains questionable due to a hamstring injury and that would help the Chiefs’ passing attack.

Pick: Chiefs -3 (???), Under 52.5 (???)

NFL Odds, Lines and Picks for Week 15: Sunday Slate

Raiders (6-7 SU, 5-8 ATS, 7-6 O/U) vs. Browns (7-6 SU, 5-8 ATS, 7-6 O/U)

Opening line: Browns -5.5Current line: Raiders -1.5

Opening total: 42.5Current total: 39.5

There was a dramatic shift in the line when the Browns had a COVID-19 breakout that includes QB Baker Mayfield, WR Jarvis Landry, TE Austin Hooper, G Wyatt Teller, OT Jedrick Wills, and DL Takk McKinley. A 7-point shift might be steep if the Browns can still lean on RB Nick Chubb to grind out a low-scoring game.

Pick: Browns +1.5 (??), Under 39.5 (???)

Patriots (9-4 SU, 9-4 ATS, 6-7 O/U) vs. Colts (7-6 SU, 8-5 ATS, 8-5 O/U)

Opening line: Colts -1.5Current line: Colts -2.5

Opening total: 45.5Current total: 45.5

There may be some question over the status of Patriots RB Damien Harris who is dealing with a hamstring issue, but the Patriots have won seven straight games and are coming off a bye week. They have allowed a total of 36 points in their past five victories, and it’s tough to go against a team riding that high.

Pick: Patriots +2.5 (???), Under 45.5 (???)

Washington (6-7 SU, 5-8 ATS, 5-8 O/U) vs. Eagles (6-7 SU, 7-6 ATS, 7-6 O/U)

Opening line: Eagles -4Current line: Eagles -7

Opening total: 43.5Current total: 44

In addition to having a handful of defensive players sidelined by COVID-19, Washington could also be missing wide receivers Terry McLaurin (concussion) and Curtis Samuel (hamstring) if their situations don’t improve by Sunday. That has pushed the line three points toward the Eagles even though it is still uncertain whether it will be Jalen Hurts or Gardner Minshew at quarterback for the hosts.

Pick: Eagles -7 (??), Over 44 (???)

Panthers (5-8 SU, 5-8 ATS, 6-7 O/U) vs. Bills (7-6 SU, 6-6-1 ATS, 6-7 O/U)

Opening line: Bills -10.5Current line: Bills -10.5

Openingtotal: 43.5Current total: 44.5

The Panthers are slumping, have star RB Christian McCaffrey out for the season, and apparently no good options at quarterback. They are hopeful that WR D.J. Moore can play in Week 15. This should be an opportunity for the Bills to beat up on an inferior opponent, though QB Josh Allen is dealing with a sprained foot that places some measure of uncertainty on the degree to which this game will be a mismatch.

Pick: Bills -10.5 (??), Over 44.5 (???)

Titans (9-4 SU, 8-5 ATS, 7-6 O/U) vs. Steelers (6-6-1 SU, 5-8 ATS, 5-7-1 O/U)

Opening line: Titans -2Current line: Titans -1

Opening total: 41.5Current total: 42.5

Steelers LB T.J. Watt has a chance to play this week coming off a groin injury, and his availability will make a significant difference to the Pittsburgh defense. The Titans have their own injury woes, including star RB Derrick Henry and top WR A.J. Brown still out, but Tennessee has been dealing with those absences for a while.

Pick: Steelers +1 (??), Under 42.5 (???)

Cowboys (9-4 SU, 10-3 ATS, 6-7 O/U) vs. Giants (4-9 SU, 6-7 ATS, 4-8-1 O/U)

Opening line: Cowboys -10.5Current line: Cowboys -10.5

Opening total: 44.5Current total: 44.5

Dallas has won back-to-back road games while putting up 27 points in both. The Cowboys' injury situation is manageable, with LT Tyron Smith (ankle) the most notable absence. The Giants have not scored 27 points in a game since Week 4. With Mike Glennon at quarterback, Big Blue was outscored 57-30 in back-to-back losses at the Dolphins and Chargers.

Pick: Giants +10.5 (??), Under 44.5 (???)

Cardinals (10-2 SU, 9-3 ATS, 6-6 O/U) vs. Lions (1-11-1 SU, 8-5 ATS, 5-8 O/U)

Opening line: Cardinals -14Current line: Cardinals -12.5

Opening total: 47.5Current total: 47

Perception around the Cardinals took a hit after their home loss against the Rams on Monday night and losing WR DeAndre Hopkins for the rest of the regular season due to a knee injury didn’t help matters. The Lions had been more competitive recently but without TE T.J. Hockenson and RB D’Andre Swift they were overwhelmed in a 38-10 loss at Denver in Week 14.

Pick: Cardinals -12.5 (???), Under 47 (???)

Jets (3-10 SU, 3-10 ATS, 7-6 O/U) vs. Dolphins (6-7 SU, 7-5-1 ATS, 5-8 O/U)

Opening line: Dolphins -8.5Current line: Dolphins -9.5

Opening total: 43Current total: 41

This game has a fascinating situation when it comes to the running backs as the Jets expect to have rookie Michael Carter back in the lineup while the Dolphins could be down to Duke Johnson now that at least four others are sidelined. Still, the Dolphins have turned things around after a 1-7 start to the season and have won five straight games.

Pick: Dolphins -9.5 (??), Under 41 (???)

SEE ALSO: Jets-Dolphins Picks

Texans (2-11 SU, 5-8 ATS, 5-8 O/U) vs. Jaguars (2-11 SU, 4-9 ATS, 2-11 O/U)

Opening line: Jaguars -3Current line: Jaguars -5

Opening total: 41Current total: 39.5

How terrible was it with Meyer that in the wake of his getting fired, the line shifted more in Jacksonville’s direction? Not sure the Jaguars should be favored by more than a field goal against anyone, though, including the Texans.

Pick: Texans +5 (??), Under 39.5 (???)

Falcons (6-7 SU, 6-7 ATS, 6-7 O/U) vs. 49ers (7-6 SU, 6-7 ATS, 7-6 O/U)

Opening line: 49ers -8Current line: 49ers -9.5

Opening total: 44.5Current total: 46

With 49ers RB Elijah Mitchell questionable due to a concussion, the 49ers are still heavily favored against the Falcons. Atlanta has been a lively enough underdog with its blowout losses coming against top teams in the Buccaneers (twice), Patriots, and Cowboys. Are the 49ers at that level, too, or can the Falcons keep it close?

Pick: Falcons +9.5 (??), Over 46 (???)

Bengals (7-6 SU, 6-7 ATS, 6-7 O/U) vs. Broncos (7-6 SU, 7-6 ATS, 3-10 O/U)

Opening line: Broncos -1Current line: Broncos -2.5

Opening total: 43.5Current total: 44

This line has moved toward the Broncos after opening as the closest spread of the week. Cincinnati has won four of six games on the road this season, though losses to the Jets and Bears are confounding. The Bengals should have enough of a chance to take this game outright, so getting points is a bonus.

Pick: Bengals +2.5 (??), Over 44 (???)

Packers (10-3 SU,11-2 ATS, 5-8 O/U) vs. Ravens (8-5 SU, 6-7 ATS, 6-7 O/U)

Opening line: Packers -6.5Current line: Packers -4.5

Opening total: 42.5Current total: 43.5

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is dealing with a toe injury, but he does not expect that it will prevent him from playing. If it does, that changes matters. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is still questionable due to an ankle injury.

Pick: Packers -4.5 (????), Over 43.5 (???)

Seahawks (5-8 SU, 7-6 ATS, 3-9-1 O/U) vs. Rams (8-4 SU, 5-7 ATS, 6-5-1 O/U)

Opening line: Rams -6.5Current line: Rams -4

Opening total: 47.5Current total: 45.5

The Rams have been ravaged by COVID-19. Their list of 16 sidelined players includes RB Darrell Henderson Jr., CB Jalen Ramsey, and WR Odell Beckham Jr., which gives Seattle a better shot at the upset. The Seahawks have shown signs of life with back-to-back wins.

Pick: Seahawks +4 (??), Over 45.5 (???)

NFL Odds, Lines and Picks for Week 15: Sunday Night Football

Saints (6-7 SU, 6-7 ATS, 6-7 O/U) vs. vs. Buccaneers (10-3 SU, 7-6 ATS, 7-6 O/U)

Opening line: Buccaneers -10.5Current line: Buccaneers -11

Opening total: 47Current total: 46

The Bucs have a strong run defense and that could serve them well in this matchup because the Saints are going to lean heavily on RB Alvin Kamara and running QB Taysom Hill. The big spread makes it difficult to side with the Bucs, even if they have won four straight games.

Pick: Saints +11 (??), Over 46 (???)

NFL Odds, Lines and Picks for Week 15: Monday Night Football

Vikings (6-7 SU, 7-6 ATS, 8-5 O/U) vs. Bears (4-9 SU, 4-9 ATS, 5-8 O/U)

Opening line: Vikings -4Current line: Vikings -3.5

Opening total: 43.5Current total: 44

The Bears are seeing some progress with rookie QB Justin Fields but that still rings hollow in terms of current value when Chicago has lost seven of its last eight games. The Vikings are probably better than their record with a 2-5 showing in games decided by four or fewer points.

Pick: Vikings -3.5 (???), Over 44 (???)
