Saints vs. Jets Week 14 Picks: Can Kamara's Return Spark New Orleans?
The New Orleans Saints need to get back on track with a win versus the New York Jets. Can they cover the spread on the road? Read on for our Saints-Jets picks.
Last week, the Saints couldn't beat the Dallas Cowboys despite getting quality runs from quarterback Taysom Hill. They were able to run the ball, but his inability to avoid turnovers kept New Orleans (5-7 against the spread) from winning that game.
This week, the Saints will face an easier opponent. The Jets (3-8 ATS) have struggled all season, but they have potential. The defensive line is solid and rookie QB Zach Wilson has at least shown flashes in his limited reps.
Can New Orleans cover the spread against the pesky Jets?
Here are my picks and predictions for the NFL Week 14 matchup between the Saints and the Jets (Odds via FanDuel; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5 star scale).

Saints vs. Jets Odds Analysis
When the spread opened, New Orleans was favored by five points. Since then, it has shifted to 5.5. There have been no updates to injuries for major players, so this is mostly because of the money already placed on this game. Bettors are favoring the Saints, so the line had to shift. However, there is still -110 value on each side of the bet.
The total line is currently at 43. It has stayed there. The weather will be as favorable as possible for a December game at Metlife Stadium, and the forecast hasn’t changed. This will come down to the talent on the field. The impact off of it will be minimal.

Saints vs. Jets Predictions
Jets +5.5 (-110)
The Saints are the better team and they should win this game. However, they have a lot working against them. Hill lowers the ceiling of this team. Even though he was able to run the ball effectively, the passing game is risky with him under center.
New Orleans has underperformed in almost every game since Jameis Winston went down with an injury. They have a stout defense, but the offense lacks. Maybe star rusher Alvin Kamara can turn things around as he's on track to return after a four-game absence, but the odds are low at this point in the season.
The good news for New Orleans is that they should get pressure on Wilson. However, the Saints offense is capable of turning the ball over as well. This will likely be a game of field position, and the Jets have what it takes to make a few big plays in key moments.
I like New Orleans to win this game, but there have been too many wild moments this season. The Jets are capable of an upset, and they are certainly capable of covering the spread. If they can win in the trenches and put Wilson in a winnable situation, they can cover.
With so much craziness happening this year, taking the home team as a 5.5-point underdog against an underwhelming team with a backup quarterback makes sense.
Over 43 (-110)
This game could get sloppy, but this is mostly a pick because of the line: 43 points is not a lot for an NFL game. The weather won't be a factor, so both teams should be able to move the ball consistently.
Even with favorable conditions, this will likely be a ground-and-pound game. Still, the run games of both teams have merit. They can move the chains. With a low total line, you can still punt a decent bit and hit the Over.
This doesn’t need to be a shootout. There just needs to be a few big plays and a consistent rushing attack from both sides. If the Saints win 24-21, the Over hits.
I like the Saints to win a close one with both teams hitting over 20 points scored.
