Super Bowl Gatorade Color Odds 2025

The Super Bowl Gatorade bath dates back nearly 40 years, which is surely also when the first bet on what the color will be was placed, too.

Wagering on the color of the drink being used to douse the winning head coach has been a staple novelty betting prop for years. Our Super Bowl Gatorade color odds attempt to gauge the most likely color of the beverage being dumped, and purple has now jumped out as the favorite.

Let's dive deeper into the market as we drift toward the end of the Super Bowl bye week. The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for a final push toward a three-peat against the Philadelphia Eagles. They're the slight favorites in the Super Bowl odds.

FanDuel and BetMGM remain alone among our best sportsbooks while listing Gatorade odds so far.

It was surprising to see Yellow/green as a favorite, albeit a slight one, when FanDuel first posted its odds on Tuesday. The Chiefs seem to crave that purple stuff, as it's been part of Andy Reid's postgame attire during their last two Super Bowl triumphs.

However, FanDuel quickly corrected that pricing, and purple became the favorite there on Thursday while moving from +300 to +210. That color shortened a bit at BetMGM too, shuffling from +250 to +225. Purple closed with odds as short as +135 last year.

Always be aware that prices in this market can vary wildly, which reflects the scattershot nature of the wager. For example, last year BetMGM offered yellow/green at +375, while bet365 was posting it at +750. That makes price shopping even more important here before you make your bet, and there's a long way to go until kickoff.

How to bet on the Super Bowl Gatorade color

There's plenty of luck involved in this fun novelty market.

But to improve your chances, focus on gathering insights from reliable sources during the days leading up to the Super Bowl. Follow beat writers covering both teams, as they often share valuable tidbits gleaned from their proximity to players and staff. These writers might discuss the Gatorade color directly or mention it during interviews.

Additionally, pay attention to any color symbolism or team preferences that could influence the selection.

When is the Super Bowl Gatorade color decided?

The winning head coach traditionally takes a Gatorade bath once the result of the game starts to become clear. Sometimes it might occur in the final few minutes, or sometimes the beverage gets tossed right at the final whistle.

Our best sportsbooks typically pay out wagers not long after it's known what the color ended up being. However, the sheer volume of betting during the Super Bowl could result in a slight delay.

Super Bowl Gatorade color betting history

Here's the history of the Gatorade shower dating back to Super Bowl 21 in 1987, which is when the tradition began.

Clear and orange easily lead the way, with the former being dumped eight times and the latter six.

However, those colors could be fading away from sidelines, and perhaps from your post-workout routine too. Blue has been the color of choice during three of the last six Super Bowls, which makes sense since it was the company's best-seller in the not-so-distant past.

But the Chiefs seem to have developed a taste for purple recently, as their head coach Andy Reid has worn that at the end of the past two Super Bowls.

What do Super Bowl odds mean?

Summary of American odds:

  • Negative odds (-): Indicates the favorite, and how much you need to bet to win $100. For example, -150 means you need to bet $150 to win $100.
  • Positive odds (+): Indicates the underdog, and how much you would win if you bet $100. For example, +200 means a $100 bet would win you $200 if the underdog wins.

When placing a bet, you’ll also typically encounter the term "juice" or "vig", which is the sportsbook's commission. Most bets are listed at odds of -110, meaning you’d have to bet $110 to win $100.
