The Detroit Red Wings have won five games in a row. I assure you, this is not a dream. Go ahead and pinch yourself; I double-dog dare ya.

Their current winning run is less surprising when recognizing it coincides with former head coach Derek Lalonde's firing. They are 5-1 and galvanized since he was sent packing, a common occurrence for teams with a fresh lease on life.

While I believe the Red Wings will beat the Chicago Blackhawks, who they welcome to Little Caesars Arena on Friday (7 p.m. ET, NHL Network), I'm not backing them for two reasons: the price is too high, and Chicago has been my bogey team lately. They've won two of their last eight, both of which I bet against them. 

So, our Blackhawks vs. Red Wings odds, prediction, and player props instead focus on Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin.

There is value in backing the Red Wings on the 3-way moneyline. If they win in regulation, a winning $10 bet at -115 would profit $8.70. 

While a reasonably appealing play, I'm more interested in the Red Wings' first line, which is clicking as well as a like-minded pair on a Tinder date. Raymond has sourced a sweet, melodic rhythm since seeing the back of la-la-Lalonde for the last time. The Red Wings' leading scorer has at least one assist in four of the previous five games. 

In those four games, he posted six assists. That's 23% of his total assists in a 10% share of the season. Raymond certainly wasn't clicking with Lalonde, at least in the final stretch of the condemned coach's tenure. 

Raymond enjoys playing the Blackhawks. Then again, there aren't many who don't. He has five helpers in seven contests against Chicago, including three in the last three.

His scorching streak, which includes four assists in the last three home games, is the primary reason I'm backing him to aid in somebody else's glory. 

I'm hoping Everybody Loves Raymond rings especially true after Friday's game in Motown. A winning $10 bet would profit $9.43.

Dylan Larkin prop pick: Over 3.5 shots ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I'm not saying that Lalonde's firing was a belated Christmas gift for the Red Wings captain, but something has lit the fire under his red wings since the jolliest of days (Christmas, not the day Lalonde was canned). In five of the last six games, Larkin has hit the Over on this prop, averaging 4.8 shots.

The only Under came against the Pittsburgh Penguins at home, where he fired three shots on goal and finished with six attempts. During the aforementioned six-game span, Larkin averaged 7.7 shot attempts per contest. I'm also keen on backing Larkin to score as he has netted in four straight, potting five. 

The theory is that Raymond will dish it to Larkin, who will gloriously light the lamp. And as he gets his fourth crack at the cage, a winning $10 bet will profit $13.
