Bruins vs. Wild Prediction & Odds: Best Picks and NHL Player Props

Sunday's battle at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minn., features the injury-ravaged Minnesota Wild and Boston Bruins (3:30 p.m. ET, TNT).
At the moment, just getting to the rink must feel like a daunting prospect for both teams. Minnesota has lost three in a row, while Boston won its first game in six tries on Saturday, escaping Pittsburgh with a 3-2 victory.
Expecting a scrappy, low-scoring affair, our Bruins vs. Wild prediction analyzes the chances of the home favorites ending their three-game skid.
Bruins vs. Wild predictions, expert picks & best bets today
Here are my best Bruins vs. Wild predictions, expert picks, and best bets tonight with my pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale. Be sure to check out the rest of our NHL picks along with our guide on how to bet on the NHL.
🚨 Game pick: Under 5.5 goals (+100 vis bet365) vs. Wild ⭐⭐⭐⭐
🚨 My best player prop pick: David Pastrnak Over 1+ assists (-135 via bet365) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
My best Bruins vs. Wild pick & score prediction
I'm predicting the Wild will beat the Bruins in a game with five or fewer goals.
🏒 Under 5.5 goals ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Wild have been derailed by recent injuries to Jonas Brodin, Joel Eriksson Ek, and Kirill Kaprizov. Losing five of their last seven at home, the Wild have lost three in a row, scoring just five goals. A team of the Wild's inadequate offensive depth has been hit hard by Kaprizov's absence.
Since the former Hart Trophy odds favorite suffered his injury on Jan. 26, the Wild are the fifth-lowest scoring team in the NHL, scoring 2.40 goals per game. While I expect another meager offensive output, the Wild should be able to take advantage of a Boston team that is tied for the third-worst road record since Dec. 19 (2-8-2).
The Bruins' win in Pittsburgh yesterday was their first in enemy rinks in five games. Brad Marchand picked up an injury in the game, diluting the feel-good vibes and compounding Boston's injury woes.
Charlie McAvoy - out for the season after shoulder surgery - is the other elite player missing from the Bruins' lineup. Marchand hasn't been ruled out of Sunday's game yet, but I can't see him featuring on no rest.
Surprisingly, with a 5-1-1 record, Boston has been superb in the second game of back-to-backs. Considering their personnel situation and how poorly they've performed on the road, I'm expecting regression where that record is concerned.
Boston has also struggled offensively recently, scoring more than three goals twice in the last 13 games. Look for the Wild to prevail in a scrappy, low-scoring affair.

🎯 Final score prediction: Wild 3, Bruins 2
With Kaprizov and Eriksson Ek out through injury and Marchand most likely not playing, I'm predicting a final score of Wild 3, Bruins 2. Both teams have struggled offensively lately. Plus, the Bruins are playing in the second game of a back-to-back. Of our best sportsbooks, FanDuel offers a much better price (-130) on the Wild.
Correct score odds: +2300 via FanDuel (bet $10 to win $230)

💰 David Pastrnak Over 0.5 assists ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Pastrnak is playing so well that I wouldn't be surprised to see him walk on the water while turning it into wine. He's on a 17-game point streak, the best of his career. If the Bruins make the playoffs, it will be because Pastrnak dragged them kicking and screaming.
He has at least one assist in 15 of the last 17 games.
Only Clayton Keller (20) and Nikita Kucherov (19) have more assists than Pastrnak's 18 since Jan. 11, with the Bruins' ace playing two fewer games than Kucherov and three less than Keller. The -135 odds at bet365 represent a 57.45% probability, according to our betting calculators.
While Pastrnak's scorching-hot streak will end at some point, his recent .88 assist-per-game clip represents an altogether higher likelihood.
Best odds: -135 via bet365 (bet $10 to win $7.41)
