The New Jersey Devils or Philadelphia Flyers will snap a three-game losing streak when they meet on Sunday afternoon at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia (1 p.m. ET, TNT).

Despite the Flyers being tied for the third-worst home points percentage (.484), it's the first time they've lost three straight in their own barn all season. Meanwhile, the Devils are finding out what life without Jack Hughes will be like in the lead-up to the postseason.

We're not expecting a ton of goals in our Devils vs. Flyers prediction during a game with two struggling offenses, and we're featuring Timo Meier, Matvei Michkov, and Jesper Bratt.

🎯 Devils vs. Flyers score prediction: Devils 3, Flyers 2

While neither team has been good lately, the Devils have been palpably more disappointing. Their Stanley Cup odds plummeted because of a largely inactive trade deadline, and due to the news that Hughes will miss the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. Without their leading scorer, one has to wonder whether the Devils possess the offensive firepower to hold on to a playoff position.

Luckily, they still boast a four-point buffer over the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers. The Devils scored four goals in two games since Hughes suffered the injury. They struggled desperately against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, mustering one goal on 2.58 expected.

The Devils even encountered difficulty scoring with Hughes in the lineup, notching three goals in the three games before he became injured. They lit the lamp twice the last time the team was in Philly, losing 4-2.

The Flyers have tallied seven goals in the last four games, three of which came against the Calgary Flames in a 6-3 loss. I expect this game to be a scrappy affair, with both teams prioritizing defense. I'm predicting the Devils win 3-2.

Best bet: Under 5.5 goals (+102 via DraftKings)

Meier must pick up the slack in Hughes' absence for the Devils to maintain any chance of advancing past the first round of the playoffs. He tallied two points against the Dallas Stars in the first game after Hughes' injury but was shut out against the Jets at home. While his offensive contributions are inconsistent, his shot production has been steady, especially recently.

The winger has hit the Over in nine of the last 14 games, including four of the previous five. I'm more drawn to his production in enemy rinks, where he's fired three-plus shots on goal in nine of the last 11 games.

Michkov is back amongst the Calder Trophy odds favorites thanks to a comparatively prolific stretch. He's firing the puck on sight, which correlates with his uptick in points. Michkov has tallied three-plus shots on goal in eight of the last nine contests.

John Tortorella has been showing his trust while rewarding Michkov with more ice time, helping to facilitate the increase in shot production.

Let's see how Bratt moves forward without Hughes. Bratt has logged the most assists on the team with 53, 10 ahead of the injured Hughes. While I expect his production to decrease, the onus is on him to step up and find a way. He registered two helpers against the Stars but was held off the scoresheet against Winnipeg.

Bratt has tallied two assists in the last two games against the Flyers. Of our best sportsbooks, DraftKings offers the most competitive odds.
