A battle between Metropolitan division rivals rages on Tuesday night when the Philadelphia Flyers visit the Worldâs Most Famous Arena to face the New York Rangers. Read on for our Flyers-Rangers picks.
The Rangers charge into Tuesday night riding a two-game winning streak, dropping the Dallas Stars 6-3 on Saturday before edging the lowly Arizona Coyotes 3-2 on Sunday.
After starting the season with three straight wins, the Flyers have alternated wins and losses over their last five games, dropping their last outing to the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night.
Will the Rangers extend their winning streak to three, or will the Flyers continue alternating wins and losses?
Here are my NHL picks and predictions for Tuesday's game between the Flyers and Rangers (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook and Caesars Sportsbook; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5 star scale).

Flyers vs. Rangers Odds Analysis

With good goaltending in both creases, the goal total is set at 6, with the Over paying out at -105 while the Under will net you -115 at Caesars.

Flyers vs. Rangers ML Pick
Rangers (-245) â â â â â
Off to an excellent 5-2-1 start, it all feels like it's going to completely crumble for the Flyers. Bolstered by a series of spectacular performances by Carter Hart, the Flyersâ good results belie their putrid underlying numbers.
Philadelphia has the worst Corsi For percentage in the NHL and is a bottom-two team in expected goals for and expected goals-for percentage. As soon as Hart falters, the entire house of cards will come tumbling down.
The Rangers, for their part, are a top-10 team in Corsi For percentage, expected goals for, and expected goals-for percentage. They also have one of the best goaltenders on the planet in Igor Shesterkin, although he hasnât quite played at the dizzying levels he established last season.
Spectacular goaltending aside, the Rangers are the better team, and theyâll prove it on Tuesday night.
Flyers vs. Rangers O/U Pick
Under 6 (-115) â â â â â
This almost completely hinges on Hartâs potential heroics. The Flyersâ masked man hasnât lost a game in regulation this season, posting a 5-0-1 record with a sparkling 2.31 GAA, .938 save percentage, and 6.11 goals-saved above average.
Much like Hart, Shesterkin hasnât lost in regulation in 2022-23, racking up a 5-0-2 record with a 2.55 GAA, .913 save percentage, and 1.66 goals-saved above average. These numbers arenât as gaudy as Hartâs, but the Vezina winner has a better lineup in front of him, so those stats will likely improve.
I expect a bit of a goaltending duel, with Shesterkin walking away with the victory.
Flyers vs. Rangers Prop Pick
Kreider Over 2.5 shots (-169) â â â â â
This one is a bit of a no-brainer. A freight train that launches his body and frozen rubber at unsuspecting goaltenders, Kreider is averaging 3.4 shots per game and has put five pucks on net in four straight games.
The Flyers donât exactly suppress shots, either, surrendering 35.9 shots on goal per game (30th in the league). This is a true opportunity for Kreider to open up a shooting gallery, and heâll direct at least three shots on net.
