As predicted, Matthews scored in Pittsburgh against the Penguins on Sunday. It was his second goal in 11 games and first in four. Matthews is renowned not only for being one of the best goal scorers in the league, but also for being one of the streakiest. This could be the start of something special.

It helps that he's facing a San Jose Sharks team that has lost eight in a row and 14 of the previous 15. The only thing I dislike about this bet is the -115 odds. The price is pretty expensive, but not costly enough to deter.

Any idea who has as many goals in the last nine games as Ovi? Well, yes, Leon Draisaitl, but that's not exactly surprising. You know who else?

Remember last season when Zibanejad notched an assist in a bazillion straight regular season and playoff games? As I backed him every game for about two weeks, I certainly do. The veteran Swede had at least one assist in six consecutive games to finish off last season, which he followed up with a helper in eight straight to open the playoffs.

Don't look now, but Zibanejad is starting to resemble that player rather than the one who has been hibernating for much of the season. He has at least one assist in eight of the last 10 games, including four in a row.

It won't surprise anyone who has watched the Rangers over the last month, but Zibanejad's return to the assist maestro coincided with J.T. Miller's arrival.
