Things didn't go according to plan at home on Thursday, though, with Columbus exploding for four unanswered second-period goals after going down 1-0. The Blue Jackets were far superior, fully deserving of their multi-goal triumph. They created more chances than a cat has lives, winning the expected goals battle 6.08 to 2.67.
It's one of the reasons I'm backing the Red Wings to exact some revenge, as they have shown an elite ability to rebound recently.
I'm also impressed by how the Red Wings have acquitted themselves in enemy environments since winning in Columbus on Jan. 2. They boast the second-best road points percentage (.773) since then, winning eight of 11 games (8-1-2).
You might ask why the Red Wings have been so dominant in enemy rinks. He goes by the name of Todd McLellan. Detroit's new head coach is resembling a professional violinist, pulling the right strings at precisely the right time.
While they'll have their work cut out against the seventh-best home team, I expect McLellan's team - even without the injured Andrew Copp - to put in another impressive road display, this time in an outdoor environment at The Shoe.
