They're holding on to the final wild card spot with just five games remaining. After this afternoon's game, the Flames will have two games in hand, heaping more pressure on Minnesota to find a way. 

While things are grim, Minnesota controls its destiny and has won four of its last six games at Excel Energy Center, one of which a 4-2 defensive gem over the Washington Capitals.  

With the league's best record (30-9-3) since Dec. 29, the Stars are a bonafide Stanley Cup odds contender.

They reeled off a seven-game win streak before losing 5-3 to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. But I feel this will be a second letdown spot in as many nights for the Stars, who should come up against a team as desperate as they come. The Wild can ill afford to lay another egg, even with the potentially season-saving news of Kapriov's imminent return.
