Things were tight in Paris during last week's first leg, but a last-gasp, injury-time goal found the Villans on the wrong side of a 3-1 scoreline.

I envision PSG winning or leaving Birmingham with a share of the spoils. While the tie (+270) is an appealing wager, I'm backing the Parisians to become the first team to beat Villa at Villa Park in 18 matches.

PSG will need to batten down the hatches as Aston Villa will come at them in the opening 20 minutes with the fury of a city that hasn't won Europe's elite club competition since 1982, when it was called the European Cup.

Unfortunately for Villa, they are facing a fresh PSG side rolling along. 

Receiving the second-shortest Champions League odds, PSG have won 16 consecutive away matches in all competitions, including at Anfield where they outplayed a Liverpool side renowned for being almost invincible.

PSG, who are unbeaten in 28 league matches, have already secured the Ligue 1 championship. They are an outrageous 21 points ahead of second-place Monaco. 

Usually, the inferior competition in Ligue 1 doesn't adequately prepare them for facing the world's best in the Champions League.

Not this time, though, as we're talking about a well-rested PSG side that has looked excellent in this competition since the calendar turned to 2025. While the PSG of old is known for throwing away multi-goal leads in the second leg, manager Luis Enrique has instilled a level of cohesiveness and maturity that should prevent a recurrence of those fading demons. 

I expect the game to be tied in the second half when Villa will be forced to push forward with reckless abandon, providing the time and space for a ruthless PSG counter. A tie does nothing for Villa, so the mentality that losing by one is the same as a draw might come into play. That's why I'm backing the visitors at +115, which would profit $11.50 on a winning $10 bet.
