The Euro 2024 wraps up Wednesday, and we're looking at the odds at our soccer betting sites which show a handful of teams have a solid chance of winning the coveted event.
The Euro 2024 Group Stage has wrapped up.
The eight front-runners, surprisingly sharing a bunch of similarities with the 2024-25 NFL favorites, have the ability to make a deep run. It's all about getting hot at the right time in and picking up momentum while avoiding costly howlers. It's hard to prevail without at least one tense, stress-inducing round of penalties, so keep that in mind when making your futures picks.
According to the Euro 2024 odds, England, France, Germany, Spain, and Portugal are the five favorites with Belgium, the Netherlands, and Italy lurking in the second tier. The tournament kicked off on Friday, June 14, with Germany defeating Scotland. The Group Stage wrapped up on June 26, with the Knockout Rounds beginning on June 29
Here's a look at the final standings of the Euro 2024 teams and groups.
Group A standings and odds
Germany is the inarguable alpha in Group A, and while it wasn't easy to secure first place, they pulled it off. The Germans started the tournament with a 5-1 win over Scotland and a 2-0 victory over Hungary, but winning the group required a stoppage-time goal to pick up a 1-1 draw with Switzerland. Germany faces Denmark in the Round of 16.
Switzerland advanced to the knockout stage as the second seed with the draw. Hungary snagged a 1-0 win over Scotland with a goal in the 10th minute of stoppage time but failed to reach the Knockout Round.
The Swiss have a date with Italy on June 29 in the Round of 16.

---|---|---|---|---|
Germany | 7 | Won Group | Qualified | Round of 16 |
Switzerland | 5 | OFF | Qualified | Quarterfinals |

Group B standings and odds
Group B, including Spain, Italy, Croatia, and Albania, was the unofficial group of death. Spain won the group, picking up all nine points with wins over Croatia, Italy, and Albania.
Croatia lost their opener to Spain and failed to get all three points from 1-1 tilts with Albania and Italy. Croatia usually exceeds expectations at World Cups, advancing to the semifinals in three of six appearances, but their record in the Euros isn't as inspiring. They needed Englash to thrash Slovenia in their Group C finale, but they were eliminated following a 0-0 draw.
While defending champions Italy aren't as good as they were at Euro 2020, they can never be discounted at major tournaments. A late equalizer against Croatia secured them their spot in the Round of 16, where they'll face Switzerland.
Teams | Points | Odds to win group | Odds to qualify | Euro 2020 finish |
---|---|---|---|---|
Spain | 9 | Won Group | Qualified | Semifinals |
Italy | 4 | OFF | Qualified | Winner |
Croatia | 2 | OFF | Eliminated | Round of 16 |
Albania | 1 | OFF | Eliminated | Did not qualify |
Group C standings and odds
England never did get their act together in Group Stage play, but despite that they secured the Group C victory.
Denmark, one of our sleeper picks, has a nice balance of skill and doggedness, but racked up just three draws in Group Stage play. However, that was enough to advance to the knockout stage as the second seed in Group C, beating Slovenia in a tiebreaker due to one fewer yellow card. They face a tough task against the host Germans in the Round of 16.
Serbia and Slovenia weren't pushovers, making their first appearances at the tournament. Slovenia had draws against Denmark, Serbia, and England, and it was enough to advance to the Knockout Stage. A yellow card issued to an assistant coach was all that kept them out of the second-seed.
Teams | Points | Odds to win group | Odds to qualify | Euro 2020 finish |
---|---|---|---|---|
England | 5 | Won Group | Qualified | Runner-up |
Denmark | 3 | OFF | Qualified | Semifinals |
Slovenia | 3 | OFF | Qualified | Did not qualify |
Serbia | 2 | OFF | Eliminated | Did not qualify |
Group D standings and odds
Group D appeared relatively straightforward. Austria had other plans.
France had -10000 odds to advance, and they cashed those, but they were also heavy favorites to win the group, and that never came to fruition. A shocking Austria victory over the Netherlands and a France draw against the already-eliminated Poland propelled Austria to first in the group.
Despite the loss, the Netherlands still have a berth in the Round of 16, advancing as one of the top four third-placed teams.
Teams | Points | Odds to win group | Odds to qualify | Euro 2020 finish |
---|---|---|---|---|
France | 5 | OFF | Qualified | Round of 16 |
Netherlands | 4 | OFF | Qualified | Round of 16 |
Austria | 6 | Won Group | Qualified | Round of 16 |
Poland | 0 | OFF | Eliminated | Group stage |
Group E standings and odds
Group E should be dubbed the group of opportunity. It is the most wide-open group, including Belgium, Ukraine, Romania, and Slovakia. Belgium, the pre-tournament behemoth favorites to win the group and advance, have a bunch to prove after bowing out in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup. It was far from an excellent start as they lost 1-0 to Slovakia in their tournament opener and now face an uphill battle. They were able to topple Romania and drew with Ukraine, doing enough to secure a second seed finish and earn a date with France.
Ukraine entered as the marginal favorites to advance, but despite finishing level with the rest of the Group with four points wasn't enough, as their -2 goal differential placed them fourth.
Teams | Points | Odds to win group | Odds to qualify | Euro 2020 finish |
---|---|---|---|---|
Slovakia | 4 | OFF | Qualified | Group stage |
Romania | 4 | Won Group | Qualified | Did not qualify |
Belgium | 4 | OFF | Qualified | Quarterfinals |
Ukraine | 4 | OFF | Eliminated | Quarterfinals |
Group F standings and odds
Portugal and Türkiye pop off the page in Group F. The Czech Republic, favored ahead of Türkiye to advance, will almost certainly have their moments but I like Türkiye to move on. Türkiye won their qualification group, finishing a point ahead of Croatia, while the Czechs tied for first with Albania.
Portugal had the group wrapped up after two games, but still shockingly lost to Georgia in their finale. That was enough to push the Georgians into the third seed in the Group, and to qualify them for the Round of 16.
Teams | Points | Odds to win group | Odds to qualify | Euro 2020 finish |
---|---|---|---|---|
Portugal | 6 | Won Group | Qualified | Round of 16 |
Türkiye | 6 | OFF | Qualified | Group stage |
Czechia | 1 | OFF | Elminated | Quarterfinals |
Georgia | 4 | OFF | Qualified | Did not qualify |
Round of 16
The Round of 16 kicks off on June 29 and runs through July 2. The top two teams from each of the six groups and the best four third-place teams (two from Groups A, B, C and two from D, E, and F) will advance. Like March Madness, the tournament becomes a lose-and-you're-out scenario from the Round of 16 onward. UEFA.com shows how the seedings work after the group stage, and what the potential matchups could be.
If a match isn't settled after 90 minutes, two 15-minute halves of extra time will be played, followed by the dreaded shootout if the match remains tied after 120 minutes. The winners of these matches advance to the quarterfinals.
Knockout phase
The knockout phase commences after the group stage. The tournament will whittle down from 24 to 16 teams entering the Round of 16. The eight winners advance to the quarterfinals (played July 5 and 6).
After that, the semifinals will be played on July 9 and 10, followed by the final on July 14 at Berlin's Olympiastadion.
