Germany were as unstoppable and invincible in the first two matches as an irate Wolverine. They swatted aside Hungary and Scotland, outscoring the pair 7-1. Rest assured, that's not how their Round of 16 match against Denmark will transpire.

Like most teams at Euro 2024, Denmark can defend for days. They are organized, disciplined, and relentless, which will make it exceedingly challenging for Germany to find holes to exploit. 

However, Germany boast more than enough attacking talent to either score a wonder goal or capitalize on a rare Denmark mistake. The opening goal will shape the rest of the matchup, eventually forcing Denmark to open up like a fancy, overpriced wine in a decanter. That should facilitate Germany's second goal, surely through a perfectly executed counter. 

Besides the strikes from Christian Eriksen and Morten Hjulmand against England, Denmark have been about as threatening as a baby brandishing a flaccid rubber knife. 

Rasmus Højlund has mustered just two shots over 209 minutes of action in his Euros debut. I don't expect the team's anemic attack to suddenly turn on against a solid German defense.

Germany vs. Denmark anytime goal scorer prediction

Kai Havertz, Germany

While Niclas Fullkrug and Jamal Musiala are enticing options for the anytime goalscorer market, I landed on Kai Havertz, who isn't as quick, explosive, or powerful as the aforementioned pair.

However, Havertz will almost certainly start, while Fullkrug will probably be used off the bench, as he was so effectively during the group stage. Fullkrug is still a solid bet to show why he's the best super sub in the tournament. 

I'm backing Havertz for two primary reasons. First, he possesses a wealth of experience, scoring 17 goals in 49 caps with the national side. Second, Havertz is Germany's penalty-taker. He scored against Scotland from the spot, and there's a chance a German penalty will decide this match. He's logged two goals in the last four matches and is capable of scoring a crucial goal for the hosts.

At +200, FanDuel and bet365 offer the best value for this prop. BetMGM and DraftKings are slotting Havertz at +175. The +200 odds offer an implied probability of 33.33%, and a $10 wager will pay a profit of $20.

Germany vs. Denmark best bet

Germany ML and Under 3.5 goals 

As the clear favorites, Germany doesn't offer much value on the moneyline, so I'm coupling it with Under 3.5 goals. The 3.5 total goals leads to a slight buffer, as I don't expect this match to exceed two, at least in the opening 90 minutes. This combination allows for a 2-1 victory after extra time or penalties. 

Germany was impressive against two inferior sides in Scotland and Hungary. Their matchup against the Danes won't be nearly as easy. Fullkrug scored a late equalizer against Switzerland to secure his side the top spot in Group A, while Denmark potted two goals in three Group C matches.

Eriksen was lethal with his finish against Slovenia, and Hjulmand will never hit a ball sweeter than he did against England. Unless Højlund saves his best for pressure cookers, I can't see Denmark scoring more than once.
