Newly promoted Leicester will look to start their season with at least one point at home, but standing in their way are one of the best teams in England, and Tottenham are significant favorites by the Premier League odds.

Tottenham spent most of last season trying to figure out how to replace Harry Kane, who was busy scoring goals in bunches for Germany's Bayern Munich. Spurs may have found their answer late in the transfer window in the form of ex-Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke.

Meanwhile, Leicester are back in the Premier League after only one season away. They won the Championship with 97 points and did well to concede only 41 goals in the high-flying second tier of English football.

Will goals be hard to come by at King Power Stadium when this gets underway Monday at 3 p.m. ET? Or will Spurs give Leicester a rude welcome back to the top flight?

Leicester vs. Tottenham score prediction

Tottenham 2 - Leicester 1 ⭐⭐

As previously mentioned, Leicester were relatively stout at the back last season, especially considering the number of goals that are typically scored in the Championship. However, it won't be enough to earn them any points in their return to the Premier League, even in front of their home crowd.

Tottenham finished fifth in the league last year, and they'll surely be fighting for top four and a Champions League bid this season following the addition of Solanke.

However, I'm not sold enough on Spurs to believe they'll run over Leicester in the same fashion I'd expect Manchester City, Arsenal, or Liverpool to do so.

It should still be a relatively straightforward victory for Tottenham, but the final score will make it appear much more tightly contested than it was.

Leicester vs. Tottenham anytime goal scorer prediction

Brennan Johnson, Tottenham

Johnson was among the players in the Premier League last season with the biggest discrepancy between expected goals and actual goals. He scored only five times despite managing 10.36 xG, telling us he was regularly in strong positions to find the back of the net.

Whether it was due to a lack of clinical finishing or great defending/goalkeeping, we're banking on those numbers to normalize in 2024-25.

Johnson serves as one of Tottenham's most dangerous goalscoring threats when he's playing down the left side of the pitch (for how long he holds that position remains to be seen), and these odds at FanDuel are significantly better than those at our other best sports betting sites.

Additionally, with Spurs adding multiple attacking options, Johnson will need to fight for his spot early in the campaign. I expect him to put forth a strong effort at Leicester.

Leicester vs. Tottenham best bet

James Maddison to score or assist ⭐⭐⭐

Maddison has multiple compelling narratives heading into Monday's match.

First, he's sure to have a bit of a chip on his shoulder after being left out of England's Euro squad. And, based on their complete lack of creativity anywhere on the pitch, the Three Lions could have certainly used his abilities.

Also, Maddison returns to the King Power, which he called home for five seasons with Leicester. He departed for Spurs following Leicester's relegation.

The 26-year-old still has lots to offer even if many fans have written him off for his constant injury woes, and these are tasty +120 odds for him to get on the scoresheet via goal or assist.
