The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs host the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders in a Thursday night Conference USA matchup.

Making the best Middle Tennessee vs. Louisiana Tech prediction is a bit of a task considering how badly both teams have struggled this season. Both teams enter this game on losing streaks, and neither has beaten an FBS opponent.

The Blue Raiders have lost each of their games by at least 17 points.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have had a bit more success, losing two games by seven or fewer. Their biggest loss of the season was by 10 points on the road against the North Carolina State Wolfpack. So who has the advantage Thursday?

Competitive Bulldogs finally win

Making this more than a two-star play would be irresponsible. Neither one of these two teams has proven anything on the field this season, but at least the Bulldogs have been somewhat competitive.

The Blue Raiders have yet to score more than 21 points against an FBS team this season, and they’ve allowed 45 or more three times.

The offense for the Bulldogs remains a mystery. Three different quarterbacks have thrown at least 34 passes, and the team has played only four games. Meanwhile, the rushing attack has also been a committee. Donerio Davenport has 31 carries for 107 yards this season, and three other running backs have at least 14 carries.

With Nicholas Vattiato under center for the Blue Raiders, you at least know what you’re going to get, even if what you’re going to get is bad. After all, he’s thrown for a bunch of yards, but almost all of those have come when the game is well out of reach.

Roughly 73% of bettors are backing the Bulldogs to cover. That’s moved the spread from 4.5 to 5 at most of our best sports betting sites. If you want to make a play on this game, get in before the Bulldogs end up favored by 5.5 or 6.

Omari Kelly Over 70.5 receiving yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐

Even if the Bulldogs are going to win this game, there’s no way you can have confidence in any of their offensive players. They’ve just been too inconsistent all season. Therefore, I’ll back Kelly to have a solid game against a mediocre pass defense.

Kelly has two massive games this season. In his last contest, he went for 174 yards against the Memphis Tigers. Back on Sept. 14, he caught nine passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns.

The Bulldogs’ defense isn’t as bad as their record suggests, but they’re going to give up plenty of passing yards, especially if they take the lead.

Kelly is the clear No. 1 target for Middle Tennessee, and there’s no reason that should change on Thursday.
