2025 NBA Play-in Tournament Odds & Schedule: Heat, Mavericks Favorites To Claim Last Playoff Seeds

The NBA Play-In Tournament odds are taking shape post-All-Star break. The tournament - which is set for April 16-19 - is an appetizer ahead of the NBA Playoffs and it'll feature four teams from each conference trying to play their way into the postseason field. 

Seeds 7 through 10 on either side will get a chance to clinch each conference's final two playoff positions ahead of the first round. The teams not listed are the top contenders by the NBA championship odds or teams that have already been mathematically eliminated at this stage of the season.

The Miami Heat have the shortest play-in odds in the Eastern Conference, with the Dallas Mavericks donning that title in the Western Conference. What about the other contenders?

The 2025 NBA Play-In Tournament will run from April 16-19. We'll have the full tournament schedule for both conferences as soon as it's released.

What is the NBA Play-In Tournament?

The NBA play-in tournament determines the final two seeds from each conference in the NBA playoffs, as only the top six seeds are guaranteed a spot in the dance. In the past, the top eight seeds were guaranteed a spot, but now the teams that rank ninth or 10th in the standings can play their way into the playoffs. 

 NBA Play-In Tournament format

The ninth and 10th seeds will face off, with the winner of that game getting the opportunity to steal the eighth seed from the loser of the game featuring the seventh and eighth seed.

You need to win only one game to make the playoffs if you finish the regular season as the seventh or eighth seed. For a team to qualify for the playoffs if it finishes ninth or 10th in its respective conference, two games must be won.
