Close games have not been kind this season to the Cincinnati Bengals, who are 0-4 in contests decided by a single possession. Oddsmakers are projecting another tight affair for QB Joe Burrow and company when the struggling Bengals visit the surprising New York Giants on Sunday Night Football.

The Giants have won two of three after starting 0-2, and their success has hardly been a fluke. New York put up a season-high 420 yards of offense and possessed the ball for 37 minutes in last week’s 29-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks, a game that might have been more lopsided if the Seahawks hadn’t returned a fumble 100 yards for a touchdown in the opening half.
Meanwhile, Cincinnati is off to another slow start, with the Bengals almost out of playoff contention by the first week of October. The only team Cincy has held to fewer than 24 points this year was the New England Patriots in Week 1, and the Bengals blew three double-digit leads in Sunday’s gutting 41-38 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
If you throw the preseason expectations for each team out the window, it’s hard to justify Cincinnati laying over a field goal on the road. With the line already moving toward New York, I’ll grab the 3.5 points with the Giants now before the spread gets any shorter.

- Bengals best odds: -180 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 64.3%
- Giants best odds: +158 via Caesars | Implied probability: 38.8%
New York is an underdog for the sixth time in as many games this season, but its moneyline price is the smallest that it’s been since Week 2.
If you like the Giants’ chance at their third outright upset in four weeks, Caesars was offering the best price at the time of writing, paying +158. The best bargain for Cincinnati moneyline bettors was at DraftKings, whose -180 odds were better than any of our other best sports betting apps.
Spread
- Bengals best odds: -3.5 (-105) via DraftKings
- Giants best odds: +3.5 (-110) via FanDuel
Cincinnati’s early-season struggles are reflected in the point spread, which re-opened at 3.5 after initially opening at 5. That didn’t stop early action from backing the Giants, as evidenced in our Week 6 odds, causing some sportsbooks to attach -115 juice to New York +3.5.
As of Monday night, you could still back the Giants +3.5 at regular juice at FanDuel, while Bengals bettors could save a few cents of vig betting Cincinnati -3.5 -105 at DraftKings.

With both offenses in top form and the Bengals’ defense struggling, it was no surprise to see the total re-open at 48.5 — two points higher than the lookahead.
