Lane Hutson is doing his utmost to keep Macklin Celebrini within sight in the Calder Trophy odds race. The Montreal Canadiens' rookie is doing a better job recently, slightly cutting into Celebrini's lead.

However, the No. 1 draft pick remains the undisputed Calder Trophy odds favorite at our best NHL betting sites

Meanwhile, Dustin Wolf has fallen slightly off the pace, while Matvei Michkov has made an impressive resurgence and has leapfrogged the Calgary Flames netminder, receiving the third-shortest odds.

Celebrini has been the lead horse in this race for a few months, and there are no signs of him relinquishing his grip. He leads all rookies with 0.88 points per game. He recently had 13 points in 14 games, the point-per-game rate he's been scoring at for most of the season.

Michkov is the most streaky of the contenders, and it seems he goes hot and cold as readily as somebody turning a faucet. Celebrini, on the other hand, is the model of consistency.

His odds lengthened from -300 to -200 over the last two weeks, but he's still the odds-on favorite and deservingly so. A winning $10 bet on Macklin will lead to a profit of $5.

🍁 Lane Hutson Calder Trophy odds (+225)

Hutson is back scoring at a point-per-game rate, and he's managed to cut into Celebrini's lead atop the oddsboard. He has a monstrous lead atop the assists leaderboard, 18 ahead of second-place Michkov and Celebrini.

He's posting a helper at a rate of .72 per game. That assist-per-game clip would be third-best in terms of points per game among all rookies, trailing just Celebrini and Michkov.

He's also one of the main reasons the Habs are fighting for a wild-card spot. If they pull off the improbable, Hutson's stock in this race will skyrocket. At the moment, I can't see that happening, but stranger things have occurred.

With his odds shortening over the last two weeks, a winning $10 bet will profit $22.50.

🐺 Dustin Wolf Calder Trophy odds (+2500)

Wolf has fallen off the pace a bit in the last two weeks. His recent 3-5-2 record (.904 save percentage, 2.72 goals-against average) hasn't helped his Calder Trophy odds stock.

While his odds haven't completely fallen off a cliff, Wolf must stand on his head to bridge the gap. He did that in the season's early stage, so there's a chance he will do it again. If the Flames make the playoffs, Wolf must be considered among the elite in this race.

He's still a good flier pick, but the next two weeks will determine a lot where Wolf's Calder chances are concerned.
