The 2024 Conn Smythe Trophy odds at our best NHL betting sites are slotting New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin, Florida Panthers pivot Aleksander Barkov, and Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid as the betting favorites during the conference semifinals.

After becoming only the fourth player in NHL history to achieve 100 assists in a season, Edmonton Oilers' standout Connor McDavid opened as the favorite by the 2024 Conn Smythe Trophy odds.

However, with the Oilers falling behind in their series with the Vancouver Canucks, and teams like the Dallas Stars, New York Rangers, and Florida Panthers on the verge of moving on, he's sliding down the oddsboard.

The Conn Smythe Trophy winner traditionally emerges from the NHL champions' ranks. Several players near the top of the Conn Smythe Trophy oddsboard come from teams featured toward the top of the Stanley Cup odds.

Conn Smythe Trophy favorites

Jake Oettinger (+800 via FanDuel)

The Stars reclaimed home-ice advantage in their second-round series with the Avalanche with a victory in Game 3, and they put their foot down even more with a commanding 5-1 victory in Game 4 on Monday.

Oettinger has allowed just one goal in back-to-back games and has the lowest GAA and third-best SV% of any goalie remaining in the postseason.

Igor Shesterkin (+800 via FanDuel)

We have a new favorite in town as the second round ticks on. Rangers netminder Igor Shesterkin has unseated McDavid atop the oddsboard with his Rangers holding a 3-1 series lead against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Shesterkin has struggled his last two games, allowing seven goals as the Rangers have failed to eliminate the Hurricanes.

Connor McDavid (+1000 via DraftKings)

Seeing McDavid slip out of the favorite spot to win the Conn Smythe Trophy is kind of surprising, but it's more an admonishment of his team losing their second-round opener than the play of the superstars. After leading the NHL in points in the last three seasons, he joined an elite group of Hall of Famers by recording his first 100-assist campaign this year.

The Oilers will almost surely need to win the Cup for McDavid to be honored with this award, but falling behind the Canucks early in the second round has added a little more doubt to that quest than we've seen previously.

McDavid is second in postseason scoring with 17 points (two goals, 15 assists), one point behind teammate Leon Draisaitl.

How to bet on Conn Smythe Trophy odds

Betting on the Conn Smythe Trophy, awarded to the most valuable player during the NHL playoffs, can be an exciting and rewarding experience. Here's what to know when betting on this market:

  • Understand the criteria: The Conn Smythe Trophy is typically awarded to the player who has made the biggest impact on their team's playoff performance. This could include exceptional scoring, stellar goaltending, leadership qualities, and clutch performances in crucial moments.
  • Research player performance: To make informed bets, research the performances of key players throughout the playoffs. Look for players who have consistently contributed to their team's success and have stood out with exceptional play.
  • Consider team success: While individual performance is crucial, the success of the player's team in the playoffs also plays a significant role in Conn Smythe Trophy voting. Players on teams that advance deeper into the playoffs are more likely to receive consideration for the award.
  • Look for value: Keep an eye out for players who may not be the obvious favorites but have the potential to make a significant impact during the playoffs. These players often provide value in the betting markets and can offer higher payouts if they win the Conn Smythe Trophy.

At the start of the playoffs, a player like Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers might have odds of +1000 to win the Conn Smythe Trophy. If he puts up impressive performances and leads his team to the Stanley Cup Final, his odds might shorten to +200 as he becomes a more likely candidate for the award.

The shorter (or lower) the odds for any one player, the higher their implied probability is of winning the award.
