Proceedings commence with an AL West showdown between the World Series odds-contender Texas Rangers and the surprising Oakland Athletics, who sit just three games out of the division lead. First pitch from Oakland is scheduled for 3:37 p.m. ET.
There are a handful of games starting just before 7 p.m. ET, and we're focusing on a pair of them for our first two Tuesday picks.
The Pittsburgh Pirates host the Los Angeles Angels, and the Arizona Diamondbacks visit the Cincinnati Reds, with first pitch for both games expected at 6:40 p.m. ET.
Tuesday ends with Part 2 of what is surely some sort of sick joke, as the Miami Marlins are in Los Angeles to get bullied by "MV3" and the Dodgers for the second night in a row.

Arizona Diamondbacks' ace Zac Gallen finds himself in a familiar position this season as an MLB Cy Young odds contender. Gallen owns a 3.38 ERA and is striking out 9.84 batters per nine innings, a slight uptick from last year's mark. However, he hasn't pitched since April 26 due to a hamstring injury, so he may be somewhat limited in Tuesday's start.
The Cincinnati Reds could certainly add to Gallen's woes if they wake up from their slumber. The Reds have scored just eight runs in their last five games, losing three straight at home to the Baltimore Orioles and crossing the plate just twice.

Our trusted projection models expect Cincy to at least put the ball in play on Tuesday. Gallen is projected for just 5.22 punchouts, so we're getting roughly 27% positive expected value on this bet when we run that number against the +120 odds at DraftKings.
